TELUS and Iatric Systems Inc. partner to offer breakthrough Oacis EHR Solutions to Hospitals using MEDITECH
MEDITECH sites can benefit by protecting existing IT investments while expediting the drive toward meaningful use
Montreal, QC, June 1, 2010 – TELUS Health Solutions and Iatric Systems Inc. today announced that pre-built Iatric Systems interface utilities are now available with TELUS’ hallmark family of electronic health record (EHR) solutions – Oacis. Both companies see tremendous value in offering the MEDITECH customer base the ability to deploy components of a clinician-friendly, web-based EHR while at the same time leveraging existing investments in their MEDITECH installations.
“While we’ve interfaced with MEDITECH on numerous occasions in the past, the Iatric Systems partnership will help us do it more quickly and cost effectively,” says Paul Lepage, vice-president and general manager, Healthcare Delivery Solutions for TELUS Health Solutions. “Our flexible array of Oacis deployment options enables MEDITECH sites, particularly corporate groups, to fully integrate disparate MEDITECH EMRs. As well, the Oacis web-based CPOE application can be interfaced directly with MEDITECH’s pharmacy application thus protecting this very important asset,” continued Mr. Lepage. “At the same time care delivery organizations can move quickly towards meeting CPOE meaningful use criteria. It’s a big win/win.”
The Oacis family of EHR solutions provides healthcare organizations and entire regions with a flexible Health Integration Platform. Based on a breakthrough open-architecture design, and including an integration gateway, an EMPI, and gold-standard CDR, Oacis is ideally suited for data aggregation.
“We are very excited that TELUS Health Solutions has joined our family of distinguished partners,” said Iatric Systems President Joel Berman. “Iatric Systems has a long history of interface innovation and expertise, particularly with HL7. This partnership is a positive step in helping MEDITECH users work more effectively and achieve Interoperability.
About Oacis
Oacis’ built-in interoperability, scalability, and configurability enable several flexible deployment modes. For multi-site delivery organizations that require a shared longitudinal perspective, the Oacis Unified Patient Record option provides all the benefits of a web-based clinical portal with the advantages of comprehensive data integration. The newly announced Oacis Health Information Exchange (HIE) option enables disparate entities to access key patient information while at the same time protecting data ownership. For sites that wish to add on advanced clinical capabilities such as computerized practitioner order entry (CPOE), clinical documentation, and ED tracking, Oacis can be deployed as a cost effective clinical EMR, allowing the vast majority of existing IT investments to stay intact. Furthermore, the Oacis Health Data Warehouse provides administrators, researchers and clinicians with sophisticated BI/analytics tools, all from a common platform.
