TELUS Personal Health Record introduced at eHealth 2011 Conference
New online TELUS Personal Health Record application will empower Canadians to better manage their health and simplify the exchange of information between health professionals and consumers
Toronto, ON, May 30, 2011 – Continuing its efforts to help Canadians to better manage their health, TELUS Health Solutions is introducing the TELUS Personal Health Record (PHR) connected to TELUS health space™, powered by Microsoft HealthVault™. A Canadian first, the new PHR will link to doctors’ electronic medical record solutions through TELUS Health Space allowing consumers to view the health information transferred by their healthcare professionals into their PHR in a user friendly interface, securely accessible online.
The TELUS PHR allows consumers not only to manage and organize their personal and family health information, but also to track their vital signs using compatible health devices and share information with their physicians and other care providers.

The TELUS PHR is a new online application that will soon be available to patients of medical clinics using electronic medical records from KinLogix Medical and HealthScreen. This service facilitates collaboration between patients and physicians, empowering patients to better manage their health through the tracking and sharing of key health indicators. For the first time consumers will also be provided electronic access to information their physician decides to share, such as test results, medication information and treatment plans. As the patient-physician interaction and frequency grows through the TELUS PHR, it is anticipated that there may be a shift in care focus from remediation of illness to prevention and wellness.

Connected to the medical clinic through TELUS Health Space, the PHR will enable doctors to securely share information with his or her patients, providing them with a consolidated view of their health data. In addition, the PHR can help patients stay on track by offering a number of tools to monitor their health status and track results. For example, a patient with a chronic condition such as diabetes or hypertension can monitor their condition as well as efforts to control it through the use of compatible health devices such as a blood pressure or blood glucose monitor.
