Clinical Applications

You need the right clinical applications to support the delivery of the very best pharmacotherapy to your patients. With Assyst Rx you have what you need at your fingertips.

The Medication adherence module is used to promote patients’ pharmacotherapy compliance and commitment. The increase in the number of visits by patients who are more compliant with their medication is directly related to significant increases in sales of commercial, prescription drug and OTC products.

Fully integrated within Assyst Rx, the medication adherence module allows pharmacists to automatically detect potential non-adherence issues with medications registered in the program, thus helping to promote the benefits of increased compliance, especially in patients with chronic diseases.

You may list the desired clinical and pharmacotherapeutic objectives of your intervention, describe your recommendations to your patient and the attending physician and define your follow-up strategy. Assessment of outcomes may be recorded and an access to an electronic calendar may facilitate the scheduling of appointments and reminders for each patient's follow-up. Changes or adjustments can be made to the care plan, as necessary, to better achieve the therapeutic objectives, after comparing the actual results with the original desired goals.

The Bio module offers biochemical and clinical values and parameters for a patient's file. As a pharmacist, you can evaluate a patient's results against comparative norms provided in professional pharmaceutical publications. Through the assessment of available results such as drug serum concentrations, INR, blood sugar or cholesterol levels, blood work, blood pressure or creatinine clearance values, you may evaluate, in conjunction with the attending physician or other professionals, the efficacy or toxicity of a therapeutic plan or non-pharmacological measures. Results are presented graphically and historically, allowing you to quickly and efficiently follow a patient's ongoing progress.

The Professional Information module is a rich resource centre of helpful pharmacological and medical data. It gives you easy and continuous access to up-to-date and relevant pharmacological and medical information often required for pharmacotherapy evaluations.

This module summarizes information about drugs recently launched, about new therapeutic indications and recent safety warnings. It provides many useful resources, including: compounding recipes; a vaccination section intended for travelers; pharmacological comparative charts; treatment options to manage medical conditions; a computerized phone book for quick access to phone numbers for pharmacies, hospitals and pharmaceutical companies; dosage adjustment guidelines that apply to certain drugs for use in renally-impaired patients; and easy access to suppliers' products lists and websites.

The Complementary Treatment module is an automated alert/recommendation system designed to meet the needs expressed by pharmacists in community practice who want to be more involved in their patients’ pharmacotherapy, while at the same time, maximizing the potential for increased sales.

Using the alerts and recommendations available through this module, pharmacists are able to propose an array of complementary clinical interventions intended to optimize patient treatment. For example, a pharmacist will be alerted to recommend sun screen for drug therapies that cause hypersensitivity to sunlight.

Complementary treatment recommendations offer potential advantages for your patients, including: greater control of the symptoms being treated, fewer potential adverse effects, and possible prevention of certain risk factors or medical complications. Patients will benefit from increased awareness about their medical condition and improved treatment compliance.
