Prescription Dispensing

Assyst Rx pharmacy management software is designed by pharmacists for pharmacists. It automates and simplifies basic operations in the prescription dispensing process.

Core to the system is the patient record, including: patient information, a full list of drugs the patient has taken, and details related to specific prescriptions. The patient record lets you keep a history of all verbal and written prescriptions dispensed at the pharmacy, as well as all OTC medications, natural products, physician samples and drugs dispensed by another pharmacy. All of these will be taken into consideration when therapeutic analyses are run.

When a new prescription is added, Assyst Rx prepares a list of generics available for substitution and a photograph of the drug can be consulted. While creating the prescription, our Therapeutic Advisor module conducts an analysis to identify possible interactions with other products in the patient record. It also detects any problems related to allergies, intolerances contraindications and precautions related to medications or medical conditions in the patient record. A summary of detected problems is produced to guide decisions and discussions with patients and prescribers. The summary lists various recommendations to better control, minimize and even prevent possible complications from drug interactions.

Once the prescription is prepared, you can use Assyst Rx to send the claim electronically to the third-party payer and print the label and prescription receipt on separate, high-performance and silent thermal printers. The patient advice sheet, describing the use and effects of the drug is printed on a laser printer.

If you want more detailed pharmaceutical information on the prescribed drug, you can consult the product's professional information sheet which is available to health professionals. Our pharmacists prepare these monographs to summarize important information, including:

  • pharmacokinetic data
  • drug interactions
  • recommended doses for official and unofficial therapeutic indications in adults and in certain specific populations (eg, renal and hepatic impairment, pediatrics, elderly)
  • various contraindications and other precautions associated with this drug
  • adverse effects reported during clinical studies or after marketing of the product
  • follow-up activities or tests while the patient is taking the drug

Finally, you can use the Assyst Rx scanner to quickly scan and archive a multitude of documents to be kept in the patient record, including the paper prescription received, consent forms or letters of authorization. Thanks to this compact, high-tech scanner, you can have these important documents at your fingertips, quickly and easily.
